The answer is 137,699, according with the 2011 census (which you can check out on this website). The archipelago of the Azores is located in the middle of the Atlantic ocean and is composed of 9 islands, divided into three geographic groups. The smallest island is Corvo, and has 430 inhabitants. The islands are of vulcanic origin and the main sources of income are cattle and tourism.
